Born and raised in Yunnan—the global origin of tea—my childhood was spent around tea mountains, though I initially paid little mind to the craft itself. I originally trained in clinical medicine, but a rebellious streak led me to abandon healthcare and blindly enroll in a tea major. That reluctance evaporated the moment I first tasted the subtle floral, fruity, and woody notes of a well-brewed cup, sparking a deep curiosity about the science and artistry behind every leaf.
After graduating, I worked as a tea art instructor before attempting to launch my own business. A quick failure humbled me, proving how much I still had to learn. Starting in 2017, I dedicated one-third of every year to visiting tea origins across China, immersing myself in regional craftsmanship to elevate my teaching. Over time, my career expanded from hosting basic workshops to training educators, leading corporate sessions, running my own dedicated tea space, and instructing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Tea Art Club.
To help students navigate an often confusing tea market, I began curating standard, representative tea samples directly from the regions I studied, even hosting trips back to the mountains. My passion took on a global dimension in 2023 when I met an American professor who shared my obsession with Chinese tea. Exploring Yunnan’s intangible tea-making heritage together in 2024 reaffirmed my true purpose: to share the rich heritage, nuanced flavors, and timeless charm of Chinese tea with enthusiasts around the world.
