Lao Ban Zhang is located in Menghai County, Yunnan, and is home to the Bulang ethnic group. The Bulang people have a long history of tea cultivation. "Lao Ban Zhang" is a transliteration of the Bulang language term "Bulang Zhang," meaning "the tea mountain of the Bulang people."
Lao Ban Zhang is an outstanding representative of Pu'er tea. Its buds are robust, and the leaves are flexible and thick. It has a unique, deep aroma, with a quick onset of salivation and a long-lasting sweet aftertaste. The tea has both depth and strength. Its bitterness is well-balanced and lingers on the roof of the mouth, then transforms into sweetness around the tongue and throat, eventually leaving a smooth and sweet sensation.
